Details
- Description
- The pixel aspect ratio is the width to height ratio of each single pixel of an image.
Pixels with a PAR different from 1:1 (square) can be used to obtain the desired Display Aspect Ratio (DAR, which the ratio of the projected images) from a different Stored Aspect Ratio (SAR, which is the ratio of the stored pixel resolution). - Definition
- Used in Checks, the system shall calculate the PAR based on the wrapper metadata and check if it matches the expected one specified in the input. Optionally, the system may report the value.
Used in Reports, the system shall calculate the PAR based on the wrapper and report it. - References

Remarks
- Remarks
- The PAR can be read from the metadata, when it is not available directly, the pixel aspect ratio can be derived with the formula PAR = DAR / SAR, when DAR and SAR are known. SAR values (Display Height / Display Width), as well as DAR (aspect ratio value in MXF) shall be read-out from the MXF wrapper metadata.
