Parent field
The parent field values are dependent on the order of the input/output parameters (!)
Only parameters that are listed before ('above' in the GUI) the current parameter can be selected as parents.
Nesting
There is only one level of nesting: a child cannot have children of its own. A parameter with children has no value of its own.
From Tech review onward, a child Input must have a Type, and a child Output must have a Type or a positioning flag. A child is 'not applicable' in checks or measurements wherever its parent is.
Positioning flags (formerly Locator)
Child parameters no longer inherit a locator setting from their parent. Each parameter has its own four positioning flags (Has locator (temporal), Has locator (spatial), Has track, Has wrapper location); the old Locator is derived from them. See Editing QC Items (data model 2026-04).
